I got Fury when I was 8 years old and she was 3 (MAJOR greenie). So as you can imagine it wasn’t all smooth sailing; it rarely is with horses. But an 8 year old on a 3 year old who’d been ridden less than ten times? Yeah…let’s just say we went through some phases *cough bucking cough rearing cough not moving cough* But I think we’re both better for it. We’ve grown up together and I absolutely love her. She’s all I could ever ask for and so much more. I know I wouldn’t be half the rider I am now without her. Yeah, she’s my horse. But she’s also my partner, my teacher, and my best friend. Pez!

Okay so her real name’s Esperanza (it means hope in Spanish), but we call her Pez. She’s my mom’s horse, but due to circumstance, I’m training her (with help), and I’ve started to consider her my own. I certainly love her like she were my own. But goodness she can be a sassy lil’ asshole. She’s a bucker (for now). But we’re working on getting her past that, because apart from it she’s a truly fantastic horse whom I’ve learned to love. Say hello to Justice! But you can call him Big. He’s my dad’s horse, and he’s pretty much bombproof. He’s dealt with so much of my dad’s bullshit when he was still learning how to ride, and I think they became best friends somewhere along the way. Click for pics.

Makurrah!

This is Makurrah. But she goes by Mak because no one really has the time to say Makurrah. She’s also my mom’s horse, but my sister’s the one who rides her, and I do occasionally. She used to be a sassy pants; bucked, hopped, fought the bit…you get the idea. Now she’s an amazing horse-frames beautifully, doesn’t fight the bit, and as of August 19th, 2012, she can go on trail rides. She has THE most comfortable trot of any horse I’ve ever ridden, I could fall asleep on this horse. Oh, and she loves apples more than anything in the world. Click for pics.

Chester!

This is my sister’s horse, Chester! Formerly a trail horse, my sister got him when she was 11 and Chester was 14, at the same time that I for Fury (she was more logical than me in her horse decision ok…but greenies are more fun). He’s BOMBPROOF, I’ve never seen him spook at anything. But he can run a mean set of barrels if he wants to. Click for pics.

This is OnceUponA. Moonlight Knight, aka Handsome Boy aka HB. He’s my mom’s new boy. He’s a sweetie pie-a little pushy, but we’re working on it. He’s a horse out of a fairy tale; absolutely GORGEOUS, as gypsy vanners tend to be. He’ll go far. Click for pics.
